Stockbridge historically has been a market town and the Trout ‘n About Food & Craft Festival started in 2008 as an initiation by Stockbridge Area Partnership (SAP) in response to a demand for a local food event to promote regional quality food, produce, local crafts and provide a platform for local businesses; to raise money to support the local community; to raise the profile of Stockbridge and celebrate its market history.
Stockbridge is fortunate too to have many independent traders on the High Street – and here we would like to trumpet out loud who they are – Trout ‘n About brings in many extra visitors to the High Street who can also enjoy our shops many of whom open especially on the Sunday to benefit from this extraordinary day to showcase their wares as well!
Beginning at the East End of the High Street are:
Miracca & Browne in Strawberry House have been making fine and high quality jewellery in London for some time but now have their own beautiful designs in their own space in Stockbridge offering as well a full service, whether it’s repairs, remodelling or a bespoke piece to mark a special occasion. As an authoritative figure within the industry, Masoud is often invited to share his expertise and insider knowledge with media outlets such as the BBC World Service to discuss the ever-changing market. Traveling frequently to source and commission pieces, he sees each as a unique work of art; the weavers spending innumerable hours and often years to hand-knot and complete each. Find out more!

St. Peter’s Church: St Peters Church will be holding a short out-door service at 11am on the church lawn. All are welcome. After the service coffees and teas will be served in the church for those attending. For the rest of the day there will be a few tables and chairs laid out for anyone to just relax. There will also be a small display on the lawn of Gideon Bibles which will be given to anybody who would like one.
Inside the church all are welcome to view the artistic installation of perspex silhouettes representing the twenty men of Stockbridge who were killed in the First world War. Like the ´Poppies by the Tower´ in the centenary year of the outbreak of that war , this is a nationwide scheme to commemorate the fallen and to educate all generations to understand the sacrifices made by so many plus the futility of war. The money raised through the sale of these objects will be donated to charities associated with the care of veterans. The silhouettes and name blocks will be placed in the pews of St Peter’s church to coincide with the dates of their deaths so that the numbers build up during the year. We will install the silhouettes with names for Charles Brock, Frederick Chant and William Joyce who all died early in the war. Before Remembrance Sunday on 11th November, we will install the final three of John Burnett, George Kail and Earnest Ruffell, who died in the last two months of the war. There will be a note of explanation for visitors to go in the church.
